2012-2013 JAMES R. HOFFA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND

 

Please be advised that the applications for the 2012-2013 James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund are now available at the Local for distribution or can be downloaded from the Teamster website (www.teamster.org).

All applicants must comply with the following eligibility and application criteria.

  1. Be the son, daughter or grandchild of an active, retired, disabled, deceased or laid-off Teamster member who has or had at least twelve months of consecutive membership in good standing in the Teamsters Union.
  2. Be in his/her last year of high school and may not apply if he/she has already graduated from high school.
  3. Be in the top 15% of his/her high school class.
  4. Plan to submit excellent SAT or ACT scores for evaluation.
  5. The student must plan to attend a four year college or university.

 

The Local Union office must receive applications no later than Monday, March 19, 2012 in order to be timely in forwarding them to the IBT.




LOCAL 493 EDWARD W. RICE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

Please be advised that Local 493 will provide scholarships for members children as in the past. This year the Local is going to sponsor our 10th Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Pequot Golf Club to raise funds for the Edward W. Rice Scholarship Fund. The success of the tournament will determine the amount and number of scholarships awarded.

Applications for the Edward W. Rice Scholarship Awards are available for the year 2012.

Your application will be sent to you by return mail.

Eligibility requirements: Any dependent son or daughter, entering or presently attending college, of an active, paid up member of Teamsters Local 493, who has been a member for not less than two years at the applications deadline.
Include a short essay on GROWING UP IN A UNION FAMILY. With remittance of your application to the Local, it is mandatory that you include a Letter of Attendance or Acceptance from the school that he/she is attending or planning to attend. The deadline to receive applications is Friday, April 27, 2012.
The drawing for the scholarships will be on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the regular monthly meeting. It is mandatory that the member submitting a son or daughter’s name be present at the monthly meeting scheduled for the drawing.

 

 


TEAMSTERS JOINT COUNCIL 10 NEW ENGLAND SCHOLARSHIP FUND

If you have a son or daughter that is a high school senior and plans to attend college– request a scholarship application today!

The sons and daughters of Teamster members have the opportunity to apply for the annual scholarship offered by the Joint Council 10 of New England.

This scholarship program selects one student from each Local Union by random drawing at Joint Council 10 Executive Board Meeting. High School Seniors that plan to attend an accredited college or university are eligible to apply for the scholarships.

To request a scholarship application, please contact the Local Union Office at (860) 848-9201. Applications must be received by the Local Union no later than Friday, April 13, 2012.
